Benefits of Membership

Unified billing
In order to be a member of the Minnesota Society of Anesthesiologists (MSA), you must be a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA). Members pay MSA dues and ASA dues together, at one time, on one invoice.

Continuing education
The MSA annual conference is free to members and offer approximately up to 10.0 units of Continuing Medical Education (CME) (in Category 1) each.

Patient information
You may refer patients to the MSA and ASA websites for patient information brochures published by the ASA.

Advocacy
The MSA voluntarily provides programs to help governing personnel in decisions on anesthesia care.

Professional development
MSA committees offer opportunities to become actively involved in studying, discussing and recommending action on numerous scientific, legislative, administrative, and other anesthesiology-related issues. Serving on committees is an excellent way to get to know your colleagues around the state and to become better informed on issues of mutual interest and concern.

State and national representation
Representation at ASA, MSA and AMA insures MSA’s voice in state and national decisions and in organized medicine. The MSA is a component society of the ASA. MSA membership levels must continue to grow to assure an adequate number of delegates and strong representation at meetings of state and national organizations.

Leadership engagement
MSA Board of Directors meetings are open to all MSA members. Every MSA member has an opportunity to express his or her views and recommendations on issues before the committees to be presented to the House for action and adoption as policies of the MSA.

Current information
The MSA website is the timeliest means of providing information to MSA members and is regularly updated to serve as a valuable, informative resource.

Resident engagement
Resident delegates from every academic program in Minnesota participate in governance activities at the MSA and ASA levels with the support of the MSA.
